Language Arts Curriculum
Reader's Workshop
- It is very important that your child read. In order to become a better reader, they need to thoughtfully read at home/school. As a part of Reader’s Workshop, we ask that your child responsibly read daily for a minimum of 20 minutes. Please monitor and encourage your child’s daily independent reading. Please bring your independent reading book to school daily (unless directed otherwise)
- Students are allowed to borrow books from the class library or media center. Please be responsible for protecting the book & keeping in good condition.
Writer's Workshop
- Writing will include many different types, including memoir, literary analysis, argument, feature article, etc… The writing topics will follow the reading units.
Vocabulary
- Learning new words will be a daily practice in our class. Students will interact with these words in a journal format and later will be quizzed on them after each group of words.
