About the Teacher

Mrs. Raleigh's 7th Grade PhotoTeaching has been a passion of mine for a long time... I mean a LONG time. It had always been my top career choice since I was in the 4th grade! A photo of me in MY 7th grade year is pictured to the right! After graduating from Brick Memorial High School in 2000, I went on to Georgian Court University. There in 2004, I graduated with my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and Psychology and became Highly Qualified to teach science at the intermediate level of instruction.

For the 2004-2005 school year, I taught 5th grade at the Township of Ocean Intermediate School. I came to Howell Middle School North to teach 7th grade science in the fall of 2005. This is my twenty-first year teaching here and I enjoy every day of it! In the classroom, I use an inquiry-based and hands-on approach to learning the content covered in the 7th grade curriculum. I consider myself to be an extremely creative, motivating, caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated individual... all traits that will help students grow and learn in a positive way. In addition to teaching, I coach the school's Cross Country Team and Track and Field Team; I also co-advise the Robotics, Chess, and Lego Leaders Club.

In 2013, I returned to school to enhance my own content knowledge and to keep up on the latest in engineering ideas and technology. I took five graduate courses at Steven's Institute of Technology and in 2015, completed their graduate certificate program in Science & Engineering Foundations for Education. In addition, I hold the NJ Middle School Science Certificate. Each year I continue to actively participate in numerous science, engineering, and pedagogical professional development opportunities and always look forward to implementing many new ideas I have!

Outside of the classroom I enjoy riding my two Quarter horses, spending time with my family, Australian Shepherd and barn kitty, camping, watching NASCAR, playing piano, designing custom apparel and other products, and working around my hobby farm!
