About the Teacher

I grew up in Howell, New Jersey and attended Griebling School and Freehold Township High School. I have seen many exciting changes in Howell over the years! I received a B.S. in Marketing from Monmouth University in 1985 and worked in the business field for Saint Barnabas Health Care. I always had a passion for teaching and later returned to school. I studied at Georgian Court University where I received a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. I am Highly Qualified in science and math for the Middle School level of instruction, as well as Language Arts.

I came to Howell Middle School North in 2004 and began my start of teaching science! My goal is to provide students with a positive leaning environment in the classroom through hands-on experiments, the use of technology, and group-based activities.  Many of the activities are focused on problem-based learning, working together, tiered labs, and group investigations through scientific thinking. Students will be enriched in Phenomena-driven instruction which leads to richer engagement with the material because it motivates our students to actively “figure out” rather than passively “learn about” core ideas in science. Students will leave Middle School North with an understanding that through scientific thinking we can better understand our world around us and learn how to use our resources available more efficiently. I participated in the 3 Year Teacher Program Partnership with Steven's Institute of Technology and excited to discover the world around us together!!
